week in italy pt. 2

hey y'all! Here's the second part to my week in Italy post! We woke up on July 4th and left Castello del Trebbio for the last time ;( We took a taxi into Florence to our new hotel in the heart of the city! I pretty much was too exhausted to do anything, but we had lunch while waiting on our room to be ready and then crashed for a few hours when we finally got the room key.

I do have to say that traveling out of the country takes alot of you because we were constantly walking a huge number of miles everyday and staying out late every night. We had dinner at a really good restaurant where we had the best waiter ever. He came up to us and asked where we were from and when we said georgia he said "bulldogs or bees?" but of course we said "neither, roll tide!" The rest of the night he said "roll tide" and "sweet home alabama" to us constantly! Honestly the best Fourth of July I could've asked for :)

We woke up super early the next day so we could walk to our tour bus for out "Tuscany in a day" tour! We started out by going to Pisa, Italy to obviously see the leaning tower!
It's pretty much on the side of a road so that was new information to me. I was honestly thinking it was some magical place where there's lights next to the tower and everything but you learn something new everyday.

After Pisa we traveled to San Gimignano for a wine tasting, lunch, and shop around. It was a very tiny and quiet city so we didn't have too much time to spend there but it was very pretty!!
We also went to Siena for a bit, but didn't stay too long so I only took one picture
This day was the most exhausting out of all of them. We were on a bus + walking tours for over 13 hours (i even had to hunt down a phone charger and water in Siena because my phone was going to die and I was going to die of dehydration) We walked 21,873 steps, 8.48 miles, and I burned 2,150 calories.... let's just say I was ready for the longest nap ever when we got back to Florence.
After a crazy week, we went back to Venice for one day since our flight was out of the Venice airport.
Our hotel room was one of the tiniest rooms I've ever stayed in and for three people to stay in such a tiny room it was pretty chaotic. We went to dinner, took a gondola ride and then woke up the next morning for our flight home.

That's all for this trip to Italy and I cannot wait to go back and visit again! It's seriously my favorite place on earth, just makes me so happy!

Xoxo,
R
